Spreadsheet Formulas: Calculating Mortgage Payments
For a lot of homebuyers, calculating a prospective mortgage payment is an online experience. For example, a search on Google for "mortgage calculator" returns 39 million options. Some people, however, prefer to plan on their local hard drive using spreadsheets. For these people, the hardest part is often figuring out what formulas to use.
Interest Only Payments
Home loans with interest only payments are much more simple to calculate than amortizing loans. Using the graphic below as a guide, enter your loan size and your interest rate into two separate spreadsheet cells. Then, create a third cell and input the following formula that calculates the "Monthly Payment".
The formula is: = (Loan Size) * (Interest Rate) / 12
Principal + Interest Payments
For a home loan with (principal + interest) payments, the formula is a little bit more complicated than with an interest only home loan. Using the graphic below as a guide, enter your loan size, your interest rate and the duration of your home loan into three separate spreadsheet cells. Then, create a fourth cell and input the following formula that calculates the "Monthly Payment".
The formula is: = - PMT(Interest Rate/12, Loan Term in Months, Loan Size)

Hi,
In summary, India still has a fairly primitive system of administering home loans leading to banks posting huge profits with steep growths every year. However the cost of this is borne by hapless consumers with hardly anyone to complain about (as is rightly mentioned by some of our friends here sharing their experience with RBI ombudsman and consumer courts). I feel it’s time that we as consumers start some type of campaign to force govt and banks to straighten the system.

When you hear the word insurance, the words boring and mundane probably enter your mind. It is realized that insurance is not a fun topic to discuss or think about, yet it is important and serves to protect your financial future. It is comforting to think that nothing will ever happen to you and that you are invincible. But odds are that you are likely to get into a car accident or have some type of health problem at some point in your life, and when that happens, you will want to have insurance. So when you question whether you need insurance, the answer is a resounding yes, you definitely need insurance.

The most common example of land insurance is where people live down a private road. Normally all the residents will get together to form an association and collectively seek an insurance policy to cover the road. Ashburnham Insurance have a special residents association insurance scheme for these people which not only includes the standard liability cover but also employers liability, legal expenses and even material damage to general items such as street lights and walls.
